Grimm Votes to Open Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to Big Oil
The iconic Arctic Refuge is our greatest wilderness, home to caribou, polar bears, and hundreds of bird species that migrate to all 50 states and six continents. It is a pristine, intact ecosystem unparalleled in North America.
Rep. Grimm's vote would hand this treasure over to dirty, dangerous oil drilling.
The House bill would put endangered polar bears and other arctic species, stressed by global warming-related loss of ice habitat, at risk of deep-water oil spills, which, because of the depth of the drilling and the extreme cold, could not be cleaned up.
